Peer Review & Research Integrity

Essential, concise guidance for authors, reviewers, and editors. We align with recognized best practices for publication ethics.

Review Model

  • Desk check for scope, format, and similarity.
  • Double‑blind whenever feasible; ≥2 expert reviews.
  • Decisions: Accept / Minor / Major (re‑review) / Reject.

Originality & Similarity

  • Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere.
  • Similarity screening (e.g., iThenticate); violations are withdrawn.
  • Transparent reuse: cite prior work and clarify overlap.

Authorship

  • List only those with substantial contributions.
  • All authors approve the final version and submission.
  • Changes post‑submission require written consent from all.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors, reviewers, editors must disclose COIs.
  • Editors with COIs recuse from handling the manuscript.

Human & Animal Research

  • Include ethics approval (IRB/IACUC or national equivalent).
  • Provide protocol/permit numbers and informed consent as applicable.
  • Fieldwork: collection permits and welfare measures.

Data & Materials

  • Data availability statement with repository link/DOI or justification.
  • Share code and materials where possible; describe access restrictions.

Image Integrity

  • No inappropriate manipulation (e.g., selective enhancement, undeclared splicing, duplication).
  • Be ready to supply original, uncropped images and raw data on request.

Citations

  • References must be accurate, balanced, and relevant.
  • Avoid coercive or irrelevant self‑citation and citation cartels.

Decisions & Appeals

  • Revisions require a point‑by‑point response.
  • Evidence‑based appeals are reviewed by a senior editor not involved in the initial decision.

Misconduct & Corrections

  • Sanctions for fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or undeclared COI.
  • Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when warranted.

Presentation Requirement

  • Mandatory presentation (oral/poster) for proceedings inclusion.
  • Verified no‑shows are excluded from publication.

Confidentiality

  • Review content and identities are confidential.
  • Reviewers do not use unpublished data for personal advantage.

Preprints

  • Preprints are allowed; cite the DOI/URL and disclose at submission.
